Rev. David Wilkerson: May 19, 1931 – April 27, 2011

April 28, 2011 in Editorials, Encouragement, Events, site news

Sometimes we as Christians get caught up in this worlds affairs, and the things that main stream church tells us, and we tell ourselves is important. The reality is though that only one thing matters. That is, do you know God, and His Son Jesus Christ whom He has sent. I had never even heard of the name David Wilkerson until a few months ago, when I came across some of his sermons on YouTube. I found out that he was the author of a book called, “The Cross and The Switch Blade” and that he had founded Times Square Church in the middle of New York City. The Lord has used the words that he spoke through His servant David Wilkerson, to greatly impact our lives beyond which words can really express. The man’s life and testimony are a living example of the powerful and matchless grace of Almighty God.

Pastor David Wilkerson May 19, 1931 - April 27, 2011

It is with great difficulty that I received the news of David Wilkerson’s passing. We never met this dear brother, but it is as though we knew him and his church family personally. His life touched our lives. His passing reminds us that this life is just given to us to borrow for a time. To be used by God for His honor and glory. Then one day we must again give it up to the one from whom we received it. Nothing else is of any great importance.

Our prayers go out to David’s wife Gwen, his son Gary and the rest of the Wilkerson family. To Pastor Carter and Sis Theresa Conlon and the rest of the Times Square Church family, we also send our condolences and our prayers. May God’s Holy Spirit comfort and encourage them in this time. May the Lord continue to work His work in our lives and may we consider this man’s life and how God was able to use such a one as David Wilkerson. So that we to might surrender ourselves to God and allow Him to use us even to a small measure of how He used this His servant.
