Bible Questions

Acts 8:30-31

30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

31“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?”

In the book of Acts chapter 8, we have an account of a disciple called Philip being instructed by God to go to a particular place, Acts 8:26 and on his way he met up with an Ethiopian whom the bible describes as an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, (Acts 8:27). Philip met the man while he was reading a passage out of the book of Isaiah. Philip came alongside the official’s chariot, and asked him if he understood what he was reading. The man replied that he could not unless someone explained it to him.

I remember when I first started to read the Bible for myself. A great deal of it made little sense to me. I could not understand a lot of what I was reading. It seemed extremely foreign to me, far removed and irrelevant from my own personal experience. But, for some reason I found it very interesting and compelling. So even though, I couldn’t understand much of it, I read it regularly.

It was not until I heard the word of God explained to me, by someone who knew the Lord personally, then it was as though my eyes were opened and a lot of the tings I did not understand before, I could now understand. When I came to know the Lord in a personal way, by repenting of my sin and trusting Him for salvation, I saw His word in a new light, and I could now read with understanding, and study His word.

I know there are many people out there who just like the Ethiopian official and me, have difficulty understanding the Word of God. You like the Ethiopian find the Word intriguing and compelling and you desire to understand what you are reading. That’s why we’ve created this avenue for you to ask these questions. If there is something in the Word that you have a question about please feel free to ask about it here.

We do have some ground rules about this section that we are opening though, and here they are:

1. This is not a forum for debate:

We are not here to debate scripture, but to help anyone genuinely seeking the truth and who has questions about the Scriptures. The Ethiopian official was reading the book of Isiah on his own, which showed that he was searching for the truth. Which demonstrates that God had already put the desire in his heart. He was searching for an understanding. He was not questioning weather or not the Scriptures were true, or weather it had authority, or weather God was real or not. He was seeking God through His word, and Philip was there by God’s leading to help guide him. We recognize the benefits of debate, but this is not the forum for it. This is a forum for individuals who have already settled those questions in their mind, and are seeking God through His word.

2. We are not Infallible Authorities:

No one, and I mean No one, can claim to be an infallible authority on the Scriptures. The bible teaches that if you hear someone say something about the Scriptures, it is a good idea to go search the Scriptures for yourselves, and ask God to guide you to see if what they are saying is true. (Acts 17:11) So any answer we give you here, or anything you hear anywhere for that matter, we recommend that you open your bible, ask God to guide you and check it for yourself. As long as man is involved, there will be errors.

3. We don’t know everything.

I am sure that someone would ask a question to which we will not have the answer. When that happens, we guarantee that we will admit we do not know the answer. We will never pretend to know or come up with an answer just for the sake of having an answer. The word of God says that until we see Jesus, we will only know in part. (1 Corinthians 13:12 )

4. We are not here to ask you to join a church.

It’s important to let you know, that our purpose behind setting up this forum, is not to get you to join a church. We are here to share Christ through His word with anyone who has a heart that has a desire to know God. The Bible says that it is God the Father that puts the desire in someone to come to His Son Jesus Christ, and whoever comes to Jesus He will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37, John 14:6)

So please feel free to ask us your questions by using this form and we will do our best by God’s grace to help guide you to God’s answer.

We are so happy to know that you have a desire to know God's word. We will do our best to help. Fell free to ask any questions you have by using th form below.
